The small Sydney crew behind your favourite trips

Joymira started in 2016 with two planners, one laptop and a stubborn belief that travel should feel personal. Nine years and a few thousand itineraries later, we're still small on purpose — and still obsessed with the details.

Our story

Two desks in Waterloo, one big idea

Joymira began the way most good trips do — slightly by accident. Our founders kept planning friends' holidays for free until someone said "you know this is a business, right?" Turns out it was.

Today we're twelve planners in a sunny Waterloo office, each with a corner of Australia they know obsessively. We still argue about the best bakery in Melbourne. We'll probably never agree.

What drives us

That phone call after a trip where someone says "best holiday ever" — we're shamelessly addicted to it.

What we believe

Fewer trips, done better. We'd rather lose a booking than send you somewhere we wouldn't go ourselves.

The timeline

Nine years, five milestones

The short version of how a side hustle became a licensed agency with regulars on four continents.

Milestone celebration at the Joymira office
2016

Kitchen-table beginnings

First paid itinerary — a Byron Bay surf week for a mate of a mate. The invoice was written in Word. It worked.

2018

Licensed and legit

Registered as Joymira Pty Ltd in NSW, signed our first hotel partners, moved into the Waterloo office we still call home.

2021

The pivot that stuck

Launched packaged weekend escapes — including our now-famous casino hotel stays — while the industry figured itself out.

2024

2,000th trip delivered

A family reef week from Cairns. They sent us a postcard; it lives on the office wall with about eighty others.

Today

Small, sharp, and still picky

Twelve planners, sixty destinations, one rule that hasn't changed since day one: if we wouldn't book it for ourselves, it doesn't go in your itinerary.

How we think

The Joymira philosophy

Three ideas pinned above every desk in the office. Cheesy? Maybe. True? Completely.

Trips aren't products

A honeymoon and a bucks weekend can't come off the same shelf. Every route starts blank — that's slower, and it's the point.

Trust beats margin

We pass partner savings on, flag the tourist traps, and tell you when a cheaper option is genuinely better. Regulars matter more than receipts.

Travel light, tread lighter

Indigenous-owned tours, family-run stays, reef-safe operators — our partner list reads like a values statement because it is one.

Receipts

The numbers we're quietly proud of

Not bad for a crew that started on a kitchen table.

Why clients stay

Agencies are easy to find. Good ones aren't.

We pick up

Your planner's name and direct line are on your travel doc. No ticket numbers, no queues.

We document everything

Every promise — room type, pickup time, that window table — goes in writing.

We fix, not apologise

If something breaks mid-trip we rebook it better first and explain later. Policy, not kindness.

We vet in person

Every partner property and tour gets a Joymira visit before a Joymira client. No exceptions.
